Enter Through the Desert, Then Discover Cabins
Reach Aurès Mountains through the Tunnel to the Aurès Mountains in Tassili n'Ajjer Desert, then visit cabins to reveal nearby points of interest and unlock fast travel stops. For vehicles, complete Kalaa Ulya Track, Ukhtayn Route, Jazira Ascent and Mahrouqa West Track; visit Crazy Günther for vehicle services.
Aurès Mountains is Algeria's second area, containing 5 challenge trails, 2 item recoveries, 16 crates, 9 cabins and 8 scenic points. Choose a vehicle unlock or scenic destination as your main objective. Discover cabins along the way so you have somewhere to return between outings.
Unlock Aurès Mountains and Establish a Return Point
- Start in Tassili n'Ajjer Desert, which is available from the beginning, to approach the mountain connection within Algeria.
- Reach the desert's Tunnel to the Aurès Mountains to unlock Aurès Mountains.
- Bring everyone close to the portal before travelling through it; your arrival portal in Aurès Mountains is called Tunnel to the Desert.
- Visit El Madraj Base Camp, the area's starting cabin, to repair your vehicle, restore equipped tools and reveal nearby points of interest.
- Open the map with M, View on an Xbox controller or Create on a PlayStation controller to inspect the surrounding points of interest.
- Select a discovered cabin on the map when you need to respawn or move quickly, giving yourself a familiar starting point for another drive.
Use Tunnel to the Desert when you want to return to Tassili n'Ajjer Desert. It is the return side of the connection you used to enter the mountains. When travelling with friends, gather everyone near the portal before attempting the crossing.
Choose a Challenge Trail by Its Reward
Choose the vehicle you want before planning your trail outing. The named routes below lead to specific unlocks. Include Djebel Rahmani Ascent when you want Whip Lights - Pink for your vehicle's appearance.

Use Low Range when your vehicle struggles uphill or on rough terrain. Switch back to High Range on regular ground to gain speed. Before committing to another attempt, consider returning to a cabin to repair and restore your equipped tools.
Cabins for Repairs, Supplies and Fast Travel
El Madraj Base Camp is your starting cabin in Aurès Mountains. Reaching cabins repairs your vehicle, restores equipped tools, reveals nearby points of interest and unlocks fast travel points. Make discovering these stops part of your exploration before tackling a demanding track.

Prepare Your Vehicle at Crazy Günther's Mechanic
Crazy Günther is the Mechanic in Aurès Mountains. At the Mechanic, you can change vehicles, buy upgrades, customize your ride and choose which tools to equip. You can also select the Mechanic's icon on the area map to use it as a respawn point.
Your first visit to the Mechanic in the area awards 10 Pebbles. Reaching the Mechanic fully repairs and cleans your vehicle. Use that stop to prepare your next outing after collecting a trail reward or finishing a recovery.
Upgrade stages belong to the vehicle you buy them for, and each stage requires the preceding stage on that vehicle. Choose which vehicle you intend to drive before spending your Pebbles. Keep your next destination in mind when deciding what needs improvement.
Finish High Mahrouqa and North Jazira Recoveries
High Mahrouqa Recovery awards Rear Tube Bumper, while North Jazira Recovery awards Rubber Chicken Horn. Each recovery has a damaged vehicle waiting at its start point and a matching destination. Choose the cosmetic you want, then plan around completing that recovery.
- Visit your chosen recovery's start point to find the damaged vehicle that needs transporting.
- Bring the damaged vehicle to that recovery's matching end point to complete the job and earn its reward.
Visit Scenic Points and Collect Crate Rewards
- Visit Ancient Beacons and Bordj Lalla; each scenic point awards 15 Pebbles.
- Reach Clock of Eternity and Marabout Hill; each scenic point awards 15 Pebbles.
- Stop at Marcellian Aqueduct View and Sarw Wahid; each scenic point awards 15 Pebbles.
- Find Saturn’s Column and Southwest Overlook; each scenic point awards 15 Pebbles.
Approach crates during exploration to discover their contents. The Camp Lantern crate awards Camp Lantern and 5 Pebbles, while the Fishing Boat crate awards Fishing Boat, Fishing Boat (Bed) and 5 Pebbles. Visit the Mechanic when you want to customize your vehicle with your discoveries.
