Complete Lower Midgar Trail to Unlock Das Mammoth

Complete Lower Midgar Trail in Asgard Mountain, in The Valhallas - Canada, to unlock Das Mammoth in Over the Hill. Its first-completion reward includes the vehicle and 25 Pebbles.

Check the full trail name before starting your attempt. Lower Midgar Trail awards Das Mammoth, while Midgar Ascent awards The Timberbox. Both challenges are in Asgard Mountain, so the distinction matters when choosing your destination.

02

Prepare for the Trip Into Asgard Mountain

The area route runs from Emerald Lake through Gimli Ridge to Asgard Mountain. Emerald Lake is available from the start, and reaching each exit portal opens the next area. If Asgard Mountain is already open in your game, you can begin your preparation there.

Lower Midgar Trail has 13 checkpoints, an approximately 944-metre mapped route and 79 metres of ascent. Use those figures to judge the outing, and leave yourself room to approach difficult ground patiently.

Visit cabins during the approach to repair your vehicle, restore equipped tools and reveal nearby points of interest. Shaughnessy Cabin is Asgard Mountain's starting cabin. Before committing to the challenge, check your equipment and identify a discovered cabin you can return to if exploration goes badly.

03

Follow the Area Route and Finish the Unlock Trail

  1. Use Ferry to the Ridge in Emerald Lake to enter Gimli Ridge. Reaching this exit opens Gimli Ridge, and the arrival portal on the other side is called Ferry to the Mountain.
  2. Use Tunnel to Asgard Mountain in Gimli Ridge to enter Asgard Mountain. Reaching the exit opens the area, and you arrive at Tunnel to Gimli Ridge.
  3. Complete Lower Midgar Trail in Asgard Mountain to receive Das Mammoth and its 25-Pebble unlock reward. Keep Lower Midgar Trail as your objective when checking the area's challenges.
  4. Select Das Mammoth at the Mechanic to begin using your unlocked vehicle. The Mechanic also lets you choose equipped tools and upgrade or customize the vehicle for your next trip.

When travelling with friends, gather everyone close to each portal before crossing. All players must be nearby to go through, so regroup before moving between the areas.

What Das Mammoth Brings to an Expedition

Das Mammoth is an Expedition-class vehicle suited to heavy recovery work. Its mass, winch pull and cargo bed make it a useful option for deliberate utility trips. Plan around controlled progress when deciding whether it fits your next expedition.

Engine peak torque is 200 Nm at Tier 1, 227 Nm at Tier 2 and 256 Nm at Tier 3. Peak RPM stays at 2,350 and maximum RPM at 4,500 across those tiers. Engine upgrades increase power and top speed, giving you a way to develop the vehicle after unlocking it.

05

Choose Upgrades Around Your Next Outing

Try Das Mammoth on a manageable outing before committing your upgrade budget. Pay attention to the problem that interrupts your progress most often. That gives you a practical reason for your next purchase.

Its tire upgrades improve grip, suspension upgrades increase height and protection upgrades increase damage resistance. Water resistance upgrades increase the depth and time the engine can withstand before flooding. Choose among them according to the terrain you intend to tackle.

For recovery trips, consider winch range and tool capacity alongside engine power. Das Mammoth's winch upgrades extend reach, while tool-slot upgrades let you carry more equipment. Choose your tools at the Mechanic and restore equipped supplies at cabins between outings.

All of Das Mammoth's performance-upgrade stages cost 675 Pebbles in total. Upgrades belong to individual vehicles, so make sure Das Mammoth is selected before spending. You can spread that investment across outings as you learn which improvements matter to you.

06

Understand Repeat Rewards After the Unlock

Das Mammoth is a first-completion unlock; repeating the trail does not award another vehicle. Lower Midgar Trail pays 5 Pebbles per repeat completion. Returning to a familiar route can therefore contribute to your upgrade budget after you have earned the truck.

If a later completion pays nothing, update the game before trying again. The first post-launch update fixed challenge trails and recovery missions failing to award Pebbles on subsequent completions. That fix concerns repeat currency rewards.
