Find Shabah Ascent and Unlock The Marshal
Find Shabah Ascent in Tassili n'Ajjer Desert, Algeria, and follow its checkpoints to the finish to unlock The Marshal. The trail has 14 checkpoints, a mapped length of roughly 794 metres and 51 metres of ascent.
Search Tassili n'Ajjer Desert
Tassili n'Ajjer Desert is available from the start, and its starting camp is Porte du Désert Camp. Begin your search for Shabah Ascent in this Algerian area. Keep the trail's name in mind while checking points of interest so you can identify the challenge you want.
Reach cabins while exploring to reveal nearby points of interest and open additional fast travel options. Open the map to inspect the surroundings revealed by those visits. This gives you a practical way to explore the area while keeping a return point available.
Prepare Before Starting the Ascent
Prepare a working winch and choose a gear range suited to climbing before starting Shabah Ascent. Visit the Mechanic if you want to change vehicles, adjust your equipped tools or buy upgrades. Stop at a cabin to repair your vehicle and restore equipped tools before committing to the attempt.
Follow the Checkpoints Through the Climb
- Open the map to orient yourself while searching for Shabah Ascent in Tassili n'Ajjer Desert. The default map controls are M on keyboard, View on an Xbox controller and Create on a PlayStation controller. Check the points of interest revealed during exploration as you work toward the trail.
- Follow Shabah Ascent's checkpoints toward the finish. Focus on reaching the next checkpoint and choosing a manageable approach to the ground ahead. Take time to line up your vehicle whenever an approach looks awkward.
- Engage Low Range when your vehicle struggles uphill or on rough terrain to gain traction. The default range-toggle controls are Tab on keyboard, X on Xbox and Square on PlayStation. Switch back to High Range when you return to regular terrain and want more speed.
- Use the winch if you become stuck and have a suitable anchor available. For quick attachment, aim the camera toward your intended anchor; the winch selects the object closest to the camera's centre. Use the manual winch when you need to choose the vehicle attachment point and destination more precisely.
- Complete the checkpoint route through to its finish. Finishing Shabah Ascent unlocks The Marshal, the Expedition-class vehicle awarded by this challenge.
Recover or Restart a Difficult Attempt
- Select a discovered cabin on the map to respawn if your available tools cannot recover the vehicle. This returns you to a cabin where you can repair and restore equipped tools. Use the stop to reconsider your equipment before another attempt.
The Marshal and Pebble Rewards
Shabah Ascent's one-time reward is The Marshal and 40 Pebbles. The trail also pays 8 Pebbles on every finish, including the first. Further completions provide the repeat Pebble reward; the vehicle unlock is awarded once.
Visit the Mechanic after completing the trail if you want to switch to The Marshal. The Mechanic lets you change vehicles, equip tools and purchase upgrades. Choose your setup there before taking the newly unlocked vehicle on your next outing.
If a repeat completion fails to award Pebbles, update the game before trying again. The developers fixed challenge trails and recovery missions failing to pay rewards on subsequent completions.
