Buy, Download and Play
Over the Hill is a released, paid Steam game for Windows and Linux, with solo play and online co-op for up to four players. Steam Deck and GeForce NOW are supported; the current Steam listing has no active demo download button.
Platforms and Console Releases
- Which platforms and storefronts currently support Over the Hill?
- The released game is on Steam for Windows and Linux. The developer also supports Steam Deck and GeForce NOW, giving you additional ways to play the Steam release. Use the full-game Steam listing below to reach the correct product.
- When can I play on PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo Switch?
- PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are announced for 2027; those console versions have not been released. Use the Steam version if you want to play now.
Get the Full Game or Check Demo Access
The current Steam page offers the paid full game without an active demo download button. A demo was playable during the June 2026 Steam Next Fest period. For a fresh download now, start with the released game's listing.
- Open the Over the Hill full-game page on Steam.
- Check the price shown for your store region before buying the paid full game.
- Launch the game from the Steam Client and keep Steam running while you play.
- Will my old demo save carry over?
- The developer intended demo saves to work in the full game, but did not guarantee compatibility for every save. A post-launch patch fixed some achievements for players who had played the Next Fest demo. Update and reload your save before considering a fresh run because of an achievement problem.
Prices, Editions and What You Get
The full game is paid, with a launch discount on the US Steam store. Regional prices apply in other countries. The soundtrack and Supporter Edition DLC are separate purchases; compare the bundle with the individual products before buying.

| Official soundtrack | $9.99 USD, purchased separately from the game. |
| Supporter Edition DLC | $9.99 USD for a special in-game name tag, exclusive cosmetics, a unique camping site and 4K wallpapers. |
| Supporter Pack bundle | Announced launch price: $37.99 USD for the game, soundtrack and Supporter Edition DLC together. |
Release Date and Upcoming Updates
- Has Over the Hill already been released?
- Yes. Over the Hill launched on October 14, 2026. The developer's October 19 updates address cosmetics, livery loading, winch anchors and odometer readability.
Online Co-op and Progress
- How many players can play together?
- You can explore alone or play online co-op with up to four total players: you and up to three friends. The host creates a room in the Server Browser and chooses the player limit, privacy, server region and whether mods are allowed. Rooms can be public or private.
- Can I play couch co-op on a shared PC?
- No. Local co-op and split-screen are not supported. The multiplayer mode is online co-op, so a shared PC does not offer an official couch co-op mode.
- Does progress carry between solo and multiplayer?
- Yes. Challenge progress belongs to each participant and carries between solo and multiplayer. Each driver must complete their own checkpoints, so follow the trail rather than relying only on the host's completion.
- What should friends check before joining a room?
- Use the same game version: a room running a different version will not let you join. The tutorial takes approximately 5 minutes and is recommended before heading out with friends. For a private room, get the host's 6-character room code and use Join by Code.
Check Your PC Against the Minimum Requirements
Compare your hardware with the minimum for your operating system. The Windows and Linux specifications were tested at FullHD resolution. Check the components below before choosing your graphics settings.
- Windows operating system: Windows 10 64-bit.
- Windows and Linux processor: Intel Core i5-7400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600.
- Windows and Linux memory: 8 GB RAM.
- Windows and Linux graphics: Nvidia GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX 5600.
- Windows graphics API: DirectX 11.

- Steam must be running when you play, and the game should be started from the Steam Client. Steam's offline mode is supported.
Steam Deck, Controllers and Graphics Settings
- Is Steam Deck supported?
- Yes. Steam Deck is Verified, and the game automatically selects a lighter preset on Deck. On a desktop PC, it starts on its highest preset; review that setting when you first launch.
- Can I use Xbox or PlayStation controllers?
- Yes. Steam lists full controller support, including DualShock and DualSense pads, and recommends a gamepad. Steering-wheel force feedback was not planned for the initial release.
